Requiem

Exhibition Statement

In Requiem, I invite viewers into a contemplative space where queerness and religion converge, guiding viewers through the terrains of salvation, damnation, and redemption. Requiem is not merely an exhibition but a spiritual pilgrimage—a journey that interrogates the intersection of faith, identity, and the quest for belonging. Each piece serves as a waypoint, marking significant moments of conflict, revelation, and reconciliation familiar to many within the LGBTQ+ community.

This collection, spanning oil paintings, photography, and glass, acts as a beacon for those of us navigating the complexities of identity within the shadows of doctrinal decree. I intend to challenge those narratives and propose a reconfigured sanctity where queerness is not hidden away. These pieces encapsulate the essence of Requiem—the search for clarity and the beauty of embracing one's true self amidst the chaos of external judgment and internal turmoil.

As visitors travel through the exhibition, I hope they find Requiem to be both a mirror and a window—a reflection of their own battles and a glimpse into the experiences of others, offering a moment of empathy, recognition, and perhaps a sense of solace. In the end, Requiem is a celebration of the indomitable quest for love, acceptance, and the divine within us all.
